Di kala rakyat Malaysia yang masih terbawa-bawa keputusan Pilihan Raya Umum ke-13 5 Mei 2013 lalu, dunia bolasepak di kejutkan dengan pengumuman perletakan jawatan oleh pengurus Machester United, Sir Alex Ferguson. Beliau memutuskan 19 Mei 2013 ini ialah perlawanan terakhir yang akan dikendalikannya dan bakal menamatkan zaman gemilangnya selama 27 tahun. Faktor utama beliau mengundurkan diri ialah masalah kesihatan. Jadi antara 12 calon yang dikhabarkan bakal menggantikan kerusi panas itu ialah:
1) JOSE MOURINHO
The Real Madrid coach, whose agent has said is 80% likely to join Chelsea this summer, has long been rumored to hold an interest in succeeding Sir Alex.
2) DAVID MOYES
The Everton boss has enjoyed a long and impressive tenure at Everton, but his failure to win trophies may could against him.
3) OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER
A legend at Old Trafford, and with coaching experience at United, Solskjaer has enjoyed a remarkable start to his managerial career with Molde.
4) MANUEL PELLEGRINI
The Chilean appears likely to leave Malaga this summer and has excelled this season despite financial hindrances.
5) MIKE PHELAN
Should Manchester United opt to follow in the footsteps of Barcelona, or the Liverpool 'Boot Room', the club's assistant manager could be handed an unexpected promotion.
6) RYAN GIGS
Due to his status at the club, Giggs has been touted as a potential successor, although Ferguson suggested in March that he would need ten years' coaching experience before being considered for the United job.
7) JUPP HEYNCKES
The Bayern Munich coach is on course for a Treble, but he will be out of work in the summer. However, he is about to turn 68, and has suggested he is ready to take a step back.
8) CARLO ANCELOTTI
The PSG coach, strongly linked with a summer switch to Real Madrid, has spoken highly about English football after an impressive spell with Chelsea.
9) GARY NEVILLE
Devoted to Manchester United throughout his career, Neville has since become a respected pundit and a member of the England coaching team.
10) LAUREN BLANC
The former France boss is currently available and Ferguson, who signed the player in 2001, has praised his intelligence and leadership skills as a coach.
11) JOACHIM LOW
Low has attracted widespread praise for his efforts in charge of the German national team.
12) JURGEN KLOPP
The German, who speaks perfect English, has enjoyed remarkable success with Borussia Dortmund, but has always maintained his commitment to his current club.
